CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The No. 10 Swarthmore College men's tennis team defeated Washington College, 8-1, on the road on Wednesday. The Garnet clinched the Centennial Conference regular season title and the top seed in next week's conference tournament as a result.
Swarthmore swept the doubles matches and won five of the six singles bouts to earn the win.
Michael Melnikov and
Max Lindstrom were victorious in both singles and doubles to lead the Garnet.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Andres Fente and
Rushil Patel got Swarthmore off to a strong start, cruising to an 8-1 win at second doubles and improving to 7-0 on the season.
Utham Koduri and Melnikov earned an 8-5 triumph at the top spot to push their win streak to six. Lindstrom teamed with
Aadhi Raja for an 8-5 success at third doubles. The duo has won six straight matches.
- The Shoremen conceded sixth singles to the Garnet, giving the visitors a 4-0 lead.
Rishi Verma picked up the first singles win on the court, winning every game in a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at the fourth position.

Winston Zhang had little trouble in producing a 6-1, 6-1 victory at fifth singles. Lindstrom rolled to a 6-0 win in his opening set at second singles before completing the triumph with a 6-3 decision in the second set. The sophomore has strung together eight consecutive victories.
- Melnikov captured his 10
th win in a row at first singles. He cruised to a 6-1 success in the opening set. Melnikov was challenged in the second but he still came through with a 7-5 win. Washington avoided the shutout with a win at third singles.
