Softball Splits at Muhlenberg, Barron Tosses Second-Straight Shutout

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Swarthmore College softball team split its double-header at Muhlenberg College in its final road contest of the regular season on Tuesday. The Garnet won the opener 4-0, before falling 6-2 in game two.

Lane Barron backed up her first career Centennial Player of the Week selection with her second-straight, complete-game shutout. The sophomore tossed seven scoreless innings, while allowing just three hits with six strikeouts. Barron has not allowed a run in 15.1 consecutive innings.

Avery McClure combined for four hits at the plate with two extra base hits and an RBI. Ava Babcock was also 2-for-4 with a two-run double.

Swarthmore currently sits tied for second overall with Gettysburg College at 9-5 in the Centennial Conference. Washington College holds the top seed with a 10-4 record. The Garnet split against the Shorewomen earlier in the season.
