LANCASTER, PA. - The Swarthmore College baseball team snapped a three-game losing streak with an important conference victory at Franklin & Marshall College, 6-5, to sweep the season series. The Garnet are currently tied for fourth overall with Haverford College and the Diplomats.
Max Roffwarg had three of the team's six hits to help carry the offense. The junior drove home a pair of runs, while
Benjamin Buchman,
Joe Radek and
Kaiden Rosenbaum accounted the team's other RBI.
Noah Potholm provided length for the Garnet with 7.1 innings of work. The sophomore allowed five runs as he held on for his sixth win of the season.
Casey Jordan got a couple huge outs out of the pen, while
Jack Bowling battled through the ninth inning to protect a one-run lead.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Max Beadling and Roffwarg both reached base to open the first inning. Beadling ended up scoring on an error, while Roffwarg was brought home on a Buchman safety squeeze, 2-0.
- Potholm shrugged off a leadoff double as he escaped the first inning with a zero on the board. The Garnet got another run in the second on a Roffwarg single. Radek came home to score on the play after reaching base on a lead off single, 3-0.
- The Diplomats broke through in the fourth with back-to-back doubles to lead off the inning. However, Potholm avoided a big inning as he escaped the jam with only one run allowed, 3-1.
- Franklin & Marshall added another run in the fifth on a solo homer. The Diplomats then tied the game in the seventh on an RBI single, 3-3.
- Swarthmore rallied for three runs in the eighth to regain the lead. Radek plated a run with an RBI single, while Rosenbaum executed a squeeze play to bring home the second run. Roffwarg then put the Garnet ahead by three runs with another RBI single, 6-3.
- The Diplomats struck for two runs early in the eigth inning. The Garnet then called on Jordan, who induced an inning-ending double play to maintain the lead. Bowling then escaped a bases-loaded, one-out jam to earn the save in the ninth inning.
