No. 6 Men's Lacrosse Tops McDaniel, Secures Centennial Regular Season Crown

WESTMINSTER, Md. – The No. 6 Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team clinched the Centennial Conference regular season title and the top seed for the conference tournament on Saturday with a 16-8 victory at McDaniel College.
 
The Garnet netted the first five goals of the contest and did not look back. Michael Hardiman led the squad with five goals and six points. Carter Strauch (three goals, one assist) and Rex Mabbs (one goal, three assists) each tallied four points. Von Mabbs added two goals and one assist. Jack McHenry went 12-for-16 on faceoffs and collected a team-high seven ground balls.


 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore got out to a 5-0 lead over the first 12 minutes of the contest. Hardiman (two goals), Carter Strauch (two goals), and Rex Mabbs (one goal, one assist) were the only point-scorers during the stretch.
 
- The Green Terror broke through for a goal with 1:14 to go in the opening quarter. They also potted the first goal of the second stanza to make it 5-2 with 13:53 on the clock. Carter Strauch and Jackson Brosgol found the back of the net around another McDaniel tally and the score was 7-3 with 4:12 to go in the quarter. The Green Terror beat the buzzer to get within three (7-4) at halftime.
 
- The Garnet pulled away with four consecutive goals to start the third quarter. Von Mabbs found the back of the net twice with Clay Almgren and Owen Hoffman also beating the goalkeeper. After a McDaniel goal, Hardiman netted back-to-back markers to up the margin to seven (13-6) with 13:38 to go in the fourth.
 
- The Green Terror scored twice before Hardiman became just the fifth Garnet player to record 40 goals in a single season with his tally at the 7:41 mark. Brosgol and Aidan Rubio wrapped up the scoring down the stretch.
