Men’s Lacrosse Overpowers Haverford in Historic Regular Season Finale

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 6 Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team made history with a 17-7 victory over Haverford College in the regular season finale on Saturday.

The Garnet finished the regular season with a perfect 8-0 Centennial record for the first time in program history. The team achieved an undefeated conference record for the first time since 1985 with their fourth-straight 4-0 season in the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Michael Hardiman put an exclamation point on an outstanding regular season with four goals to pace the Garnet. The junior led the team with 44 goals and ranked second with 53 points during the regular season. Von Mabbs overtook Hardiman for the team lead in points with a five-point effort to celebrate Senior Day. Mabbs tallied a pair of goals with three assists, while Clay Almgren had four points on three goals and an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Haverford took control of the game early with a 3-1 advantage to open play. Clay Almgren netted the team's lone goal during the stretch as they weathered an early Fords run. Hardiman opened the scoring in the quarter, before adding another tally during the team's 4-0 stretch. Owen Hoffman and Mabbs also found the back of the net to aid Swarthmore's run as they pulled ahead by five goals. Haverford stopped some bleeding with a much-needed score at the 7:09 mark. However, Swarthmore delivered another blow with four more unanswered goals to end the half. Hardiman scored twice during the run, while Almgren and Ryder Maston added to the team's cushion, 12-4.

- Carter Strauch added on with two goals to open the third quarter to put Swarthmore ahead by double digits. Haverford added a couple goals during the stanza, but the Garnet answered with scores from Mabbs and Lucas Kearney, 16-6.
