Men’s Tennis Celebrates Senior Day Victory in Home Finale

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 9 Swarthmore College men's tennis team remained perfect in the Centennial Conference with another dominant win over Gettysburg College, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet also remained undefeated against the Bullets as they improved to 19-0 lifetime against Gettysburg College.

The Garnet honored seniors Rushil Patel, Phil Rehwinkel and Charley Force in their final home regular season match. Patel earned a pair of wins in doubles and singles action, while Rehwinkel won in straight-sets in No. 6 singles. 

DOUBLES
HOW IT HAPPENED

- Michael Melnikov/ Utham Koduri were victorious in top singles with an 8-3 decision. The pairing remains undefeated in Centennial play as they continue to cement themselves as the top team in the conference. 

- Andres Fente/ Patel won in No. 2 doubles with an 8-3 decision. The duo has won five-straight matches at No. 2 doubles and are unbeaten in Centennial play. 

- Max Lindstrom/ Aadhi Raja also continued to wreak havoc on the conference with an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles. They have won six-straight matches as Swarthmore remains unbeaten in Centennial doubles competition.



SINGLES
HOW IT HAPPENED

- Melnikov won comfortably in top singles. The sophomore took the opening set 6-2, before winning in straight sets with a 6-1 decision in the finale.

- Lindstrom won his second match of the day with a hard-fought victory in No. 2 singles. After winning the first set 6-2, Lindstrom earned the straight-set win with a 7-5 victory in the second set. 

- Lalith Suresh looked very strong in a No. 4 singles win. The sophomore took the opening set 6-1, before finishing off his opponent with a 6-2 clinching set. 

- Patel won his second match of the day to headline an impressive Senior Day sweep. Patel battled to a 6-4 win in the first set. He then finished off his challenger with a 6-3 decision in set two.

- Rehwinkel fired up his teammates with a straight-set victory in No. 6 singles. The senior won his fourth conference match of the season in a 6-2, 6-4 win.

Swarthmore (17-1, 6-0) continues to run through their Centennial Conference slate as they travel to Washington College on Wednesday.
