SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team secured its third-straight victory with a 16-4 decision over Albright College on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The Garnet tallied 16 goals for the second-straight game, while outscoring their opponents 32-4 in both games.
Swarthmore had four different players record hat tricks with six total goal scorers. Isabela Bloomquist led the charge with seven points on five goals and two assists, while Abigail Love, Kela Watts and Sophie Finkelstein each tallied four points on three goals and one assist.
Helen Stafford made a season-high eight saves to secure her third win of the season. The senior allowed just three goals in 50-minutes of action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore jumped all over the Lions with five-straight goals to open the game. Finkelstein collected the first tally in the opening minute of action, before Watts and Love added scores with assists from
Annabel Stifler. Moments later, Bloomquist and Love scored within a minute of each other to pull ahead by five goals with 9:37 left. Albright added its lone goal of the quarter with 7:24 remaining, but Swarthmore countered with another Bloomquist score heading into the first intermission, 7-1.
- Watts opened the scoring in the second quarter with an assist from Bloomquist at the 12:26 mark. Bloomquist then completed her hat trick with a remarkable, diving score to beat Albright's goalie to the opposite post. Bloomquist totaled two more goals during the team's six-goal stretch, while Finkelstien added another score to put Swarthmore ahead by double-digit goals. Albright would decrease its deficit to nine with a powerplay goal, however, Aubree Daugherty quickly stole the goal back with a woman-up advantage with 3:00 left, 12-2.
- The Garnet shutout the Lions with three-unanswered goals in the third quarter. Watts opened the scoring for the second-straight quarter with a goal in the opening minute of the second half. Love then found the back of the net with an assist from Finkelstein, while Finkelstein closed out the quarter with a goal of her own, 15-2.
- Lillian Lewis tallied the team's lone goal of the fourth quarter to wrap up the scoring for Swarthmore. The Lions scored a pair of goals in the stanza, but were unable to dig themselves out of a double-digit deficit.
