Baseball Takes Conference Opener Versus F&M, Game Two Postponed Due to Weather

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College baseball team opened conference play with an impressive 7-1 victory over Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday. The second game of the double-header was postponed due to inclement weather.

Andrew Moy picked up his third win of the season to remain unbeaten on the year. The junior continues to develop into one of the team's top starters as he logged eight-shutout innings, while allowing just five hits and no walks.

Swarthmore's offense struck early in the contest with five runs through the first four innings. Benjamin Buchman led the way with a 3-for-5 performance and a run scored, while Brad Johnston had a game-high two RBI.

Aidan Sullivan extended his hit streak to 20 games with one hit and three walks. Dating back to last season, Sullivan has recorded a hit in 29-straight games. The sophomore raised his on-base-percentage to .673 this season and .544 for his career. Sullivan is also batting .514 this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore brought home a pair of runs in the first after Sullivan and Max Roffwarg reached base to open the inning. Max Beadling then sacrificed both runners into scoring position, while Johnston brought them home with a two-run double, 2-0.

- The Garnet added another run in the second with a pair of doubles. Jett Shue doubled to open the inning, while Sullivan delivered with a two-out double to bring Shue home, 3-0.

- Swarthmore's offense kept adding on with a two-out rally in the third. Buchman prolonged the inning with a two-out single before swiping second base. Matthew Silvestre followed with an RBI knock to plate Buchman. The Garnet then took advantage of three walks in the fifth to add on another score, 5-0.

- Moy was outstanding for the Garnet as he hung eight-straight zeros to blank the Diplomats. The junior wrapped up his line after a scoreless eight innings while allowing five hits, no walks and striking out five.

- Swarthmore added two more insurance tallies in the ninth. Roffwarg drove home another run on a sacrifice fly, while the Garnet collected their final run on a throwing error. The Diplomats avoided the shutout with a run in the ninth, but fell well short of threatening Swarthmore's commanding lead.
