Baseball Unable to Keep Up with Rutgers-Camden

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College baseball team fell to Rutgers-Camden, 8-5, on Tuesday night. The Garnet rallied in the sixth and seventh innings, but were unable to shutdown the Scarlet-Raptors offense.

Aidan Sullivan extended his hit streak to 19 games with a solo home run in the seventh inning. The sophomore slugger went 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. Dating back to last season, Sullivan has recorded a hit in 28-straight games. In 48 collegiate games played, Sullivan has been held hitless in just five contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Scarlet Raptors rallied for three runs in the first inning. Gabe Elliot entered the game with the bases loaded, but limited damage after rolling a 5-4-3 double play to escape the threat. The Garnet got a run back in the bottom half on a Benjamin Buchman single to the pitcher, 3-1.

- Eliot did his job as he tossed a clean second inning to keep the Garnet within string distance. Max Beadling and Kaiden Rosenbaum then singled to open the bottom half. The Garnet advanced both runners into scoring position, but were unable to get a run across.

- After the Scarlet Raptors added a run in the fourth, Swarthmore threatened in the fifth after their first two hitters reached base to lead off the inning. The Garnet were unable to execute on a sacrifice bunt for the inning's first out, while Rutgers-Camden induced an inning-ending double play to hang another zero on the scoreboard.

- Swarthmore tallied two runs in the sixth inning to pull within a run. Brad Johnston doubled down the right-field line to start the rally, while eventually coming home to score on a wild pitch. Beadling then plated another run with a single to left field, 4-3.

- Rutgers-Camden undid Swarthmore's sixth-inning damage with a three-spot in the seventh inning. However, the Garnet responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half. Sullivan launched a long flyball over the right field wall to extend his hit streak to open the frame. Swarthmore then added another run on a ground out to first base, 7-5. The Garnet looked to add on with a pair in scoring position, but struck out to end the inning.

- Swarthmore was unable to shut down the Scarlet Raptors' offense in the eighth inning. Rutgers-Camden added on with a run in the inning to pull ahead by three runs. The Garnet offense was unable to put together a response in the eighth and ninth innings.
