No. 16 Men’s Lacrosse Remains Unbeaten in Elizabethtown Blow Out

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The No. 16 Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team remained unbeaten in the early season with a 22-8 victory at Elizabethtown College on Saturday. The Garnet improved their record to 4-0, while outscoring opponents 82-33 to open the season.

Swarthmore spread out its scoring with 12 different players recording goals and 14 different players tallying points. Carter Strauch and Clay Almgren led the way with six points on three goals and three assists, respectively. Michael Hardiman also recorded a hat trick with a trio of goals, while Von Mabbs had a pair of goals and two assists in a four-point effort. Nolan Ohrman also totaled four points with one goal and three assists. 

Jack McHenry continued to impress for the Garnet as the freshman led the team in ground balls for the fourth-straight contest. McHenry collected nine ground balls, while going 14-of-18 on faceoffs. As a team, Swarthmore continued to dominate faceoffs with a 23-9 record. 

GARNET LEADERS
- Swarthmore raced out to a fast start as it opened the game with seven-straight goals. Almgren notched his first goal in the opening minute, while Cooper Bucklan followed with a man-up goal at the 11:58 mark. Owen Hoffman and Ryan Kim then added back-to-back goals within 30 seconds of each other before Almgren, Von Mabbs and Carter Strauch capped off the team's 7-0 run with a trio of goals. The Blue Jays eventually broke their scoring drought with their lone opening quarter goal at the 1:34 mark. 

- Elizabethtown tallied the first goal of the second quarter, but were unable to hold off the Garnet, who countered with consecutive scores from Almgren and Hardiman. The Blue Jays then notched their third goal before Swarthmore ended the half with five-unanswered scores. Jackson Brosgol opened the rally with his first of two scores, while Ohrman, Carter Strauch and Bucklan added scores to end the half, 14-3.

- The Blue Jays exited halftime with the opening goal of the third quarter, but were immediately silenced by a Carter Strauch score just 30 seconds later. Swarthmore carried momentum throughout the third as they rallied for four-straight scores. Hardiman, Hoffman and Mabbs all added goals after Strauch kickstarted the rally. Following a score from the Blue Jays, Hardiman wrapped up the stanza with a goal to expand the team's lead to 19-5. 

- Elizabethtown got on the board first for the third-straight quarter, but were unable to create any momentum for themselves after Jamie Weyerhaeuser added a Swarthmore goal within the same minute. The Blue Jays would add consecutive scores to pull within 12 goals until Swarthmore erased their progress with goals from Harlan Graber and Aidan Rubio to end the game.
