SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The No. 15 Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team scored 10 straight goals to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 12-3 lead and went on to defeat Arcadia University, 17-5, in non-conference action at Clothier Field Stadium on Saturday.
The Garnet opened the contest with two goals but the Knights answered with three in a row to take the lead. Swarthmore then outscored Arcadia, 15-2, the rest of the way.
Von Mabbs posted a game-high five points on two goals and three assists to lead the Garnet.
Michael Hardiman and
Rex Mabbs each netted a hat trick with Hardiman adding an assist. Ten different players found the back of the net for Swarthmore while
Ryan Pretzer stopped a season-high 10 shots in goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Owen Hoffman and
Carter Strauch tallied the first two goals for the Garnet to give them a 2-0 lead at the 8:43 mark of the opening quarter.
- The Knights responded with three straight goals, one while a man-up, to take their only lead of the contest with 4:39 left in the first.
- There were only two goals in the second quarter, both coming from Swarthmore.
Ryder Maston hit the back of the cage at 10:41 then
Carter Strauch set up
Rex Mabbs with 3:21 to go to give the Garnet a 4-3 edge at halftime.
- After the break, Swarthmore came out and dominated the third. The Garnet scored the first eight goals of the period to open up a nine-goal advantage (12-3) with 2:38 on the clock.
Rex Mabbs produced the first two goals of the run, including one on an extra-man opportunity, while Hardiman bookended the surge with a natural hat trick.
- Arcadia's final two goals cut the deficit to seven (12-5) with 13:57 to play in the fourth quarter. Swarthmore then closed out the win with five unanswered goals by five different players.
