Women’s Basketball Clinch Postseason Berth in Dominant Fashion Over Haverford

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's basketball team capped off its regular-season home finale with a dominating 64-38 victory over Haverford College on Wednesday. With tonight's victory, the Garnet clinched their first Centennial Conference Tournament appearance since the 2019-20 season. 

The Garnet rode a dominating start to victory as they maintained their lead over Haverford from start to finish. Swarthmore got off to a quick start with a 13-0 run and never looked back as the blew past the Fords. The team put together one of its best games of the season as they shot a stellar 44.4-percent from the field. 

Dana Bandurick impressed in her final regular-season home contest with 17 points to pace the Garnet. The senior recorded her second-straight double-double and fourth of the season as she grabbed 12 rebounds. Norah Wingfield and Alyssa Hayashi also added double-digit performances with 14 and 13, respectively. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet got out to a quick start with the first 13 points of the opening quarter. Bandurick scored eight points during the stretch, while opening and closing the run with buckets. Neve Yair also helped the cause with the game's first three-pointer, while the defense held the Fords scoreless for nearly seven minutes. The Garnet ended the stanza with a 21-7 advantage.

- Early in the second, Hayashi and Wingfield drilled consecutive triples to create more separation, 31-9. Later in the stanza, Bandurick added her 13th point of the half to lead all scorers. Swarthmore kept Haverford at a distance the entire way as they entered the locker room with a 36-15 lead. 

- The Garnet rallied for a 9-0 run early in the third quarter. Wingfield scored seven of the team's nine points as she capped off the stretch with a triple. Later in the stanza, Emily Smith added to the team's lead with a three-point play after absorbing contact on a layup. The Fords countered with a late three-pointer, but the Garnet still managed to build a commanding 50-24 lead.

- The Garnet ran out the clock on the Fords as they maintained distance in the fourth quarter. Swarthmore matched Haverford, 14-14, in the final stanza, but won every other quarter in dominating fashion.
