LANCASTER, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's volleyball team had four players named to the All-Centennial Team, the conference office announced on Tuesday. In addition,
Melissa Eyer was chosen the conference's Defensive Player of the Year as well as the Rookie of the Year.
Eyer was joined on the All-Centennial First Team by
Alexia Enache.
Emily Sun garnered a Second Team nod while
Isabel Adam received honorable mention. Eyer is the Garnet's first-ever Defensive Player of the Year winner and she is the first to be chosen the Rookie of the Year since 2015.
In addition to the All-Centennial Team,
Hannah Humphreys was Swarthmore's representative on the Centennial All-Sportsmanship Team.
Eyer led the Garnet with 426 digs (4.30 per set). She also was second on the squad in service aces (46) and third in assists (118). Eyer recorded 20 or more digs seven times with a high of 30 versus the University of Mary Washington. She finished first in the conference in total digs and second in digs per set. Eyer was a two-time Centennial Defensive Player of the Week selection and she was named to the Margie Knight Classic All-Tournament Team.
Enache was Swarthmore's leader with 333 kills (3.36 per set), which ranks eighth-most in a single season in program history. She scored a team-high 386.0 points (3.90 per set) and was second on the team in digs (208), fourth in service aces (34), and fifth in blocks (34.0). Enache reached double-digit kills 18 times with a career-high 24 against Baldwin Wallace University. She ranked first in the Centennial in points and points per set, and second in total kills and kills per set. Enache was the conference's Offensive Player of the Week twice.
Sun totaled a team-high 514 assists, which was fourth in the Centennial. She averaged 5.19 assists per set, which ranked sixth in the conference. Sun also was third on the Garnet in service aces (43) and fourth in digs (194). She tallied 20 or more assists on 12 occasions with a career-high 38 against both Stockton University and Haverford College. Sun was a member of the Margie Knight Classic All-Tournament Team.
Adam ranked second on Swarthmore with 292 kills (3.01 per set) and 312.0 points (3.22 per set). She was third in the Centennial in total kills and fifth in kills per set. Adam registered double-digit kills 15 times with a high of 21 versus Muhlenberg College.
The Garnet concluded the season with a 17-10 record, advancing to the Centennial Championship match.
