Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Takes Down Eastern, 3-0

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's soccer team wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a 3-0 victory over Eastern University on Wednesday.

Adrien Marcelli tallied a pair of goals for his third-straight game with a goal. The junior bookended the scoring for the Garnet with goals in the second and 75th minutes. Marcelli tied himself for the team lead with eight goals and currently ranks second in the conference in scoring.

Tejas Sarna also contributed to the scoring with his third goal of the season. The senior scored in the 26th minute to tally his eighth point.

Christian Bignotti made a pair of saves in the team's fourth shutout of the season. Swarthmore outshot Eastern 23-13, while allowing just two shots on goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marcelli wasted no time with the game's opening score in the second minute. Kaito Hikino possessed a loose ball just outside the box before connecting with Marcelli on the left side. The junior beat the keeper to the far post for his third-straight game with a goal. Hikino also tallied his team-leading fifth assist, which ties the junior for the conference lead.

- Bignotti preserved Swarthmore's early lead with a heads-up save in the 10th minute. The Eagles played the ball into the box from beyond midfield to connect with an attacker. Bignotti then put his body in front of the quick shot attempt to defuse the scoring opportunity.

- Sarna padded the team's lead with a goal in the 26th minute. The senior used his speed to get behind Eastern's defense and then made a move in the box to lose his defender. Sarna then snuck the ball past the keeper for his third goal of the season.

- Sarna nearly added another tally in the 41st minute after maneuvering past Eastern's defense once again. However, Eastern's keeper denied the senior with a leaping save to limit damage heading into halftime. The Garnet outshot the Eagles 12-7 in the opening half.

- Marcelli added on his second score with a penalty kick in the 75th minute. The junior earned the opportunity after he was wrestled down inside the box. Marcelli beat the keeper low and to the left for his eighth goal of the season.
