Women’s Soccer Rolls Past Bryn Mawr, 4-0

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's soccer team returned to conference play with a 4-0 victory over Bryn Mawr College on Tuesday night.

The Garnet cruised to victory behind four first-half goals from Allie Zitelli, Charlotte Carleton, Celia Kanellakos and Katie Kerman, who celebrated her first collegiate goal. Swarthmore opened the scoring immediately with goals in the second and third minutes, before adding two final scores in the 14th and 32nd minutes, respectively.

Swarthmore dominated possession with a 16-5 advantage. Sofie Aird was left untested in the opening 22 minutes of action, while Paige Scheinberg tallied a pair of saves in 68 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emme Hansard set up the opening goal with a beautifully-placed cross in the second minute. Hansard connected with Zitelli at the opposite post. The senior fired her first shot at the keeper, before immediately putting back the rebound for a goal.

- Carleton quickly doubled the team's lead with a score in the third minute. Marea Lee found the foot of Carleton in the box, who buried her shot attempt for the team's second score.

- Kenellakos added to the scoring with a goal in the 14th minute. The first-year cut to the middle of the box and buried a centering pass from Carleton to take a 3-0 lead.

- Kerman notched the team's final goal of the opening half in the 32nd minute. Keman carried the ball up the right side after forcing a turnover before lifting an attempt over the Owls goalie for her first collegiate score.

- Neither team scored in the second half. Senna Mieth pressured the keeper with a pair of quality shots, but was unable to sneak one past the Owls. Late in the game, Kanellakos nearly added a second goal, but was robbed by an excellent save.
