Field Hockey Falls Short at No. 10 Bryn Mawr

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College field hockey team dropped a tight road matchup versus No. 10 Bryn Mawr College, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon. 

Bryn Mawr tallied the game's lone score in the third quarter to edge out the Garnet. Swarthmore attempted three shots with a pair of shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the cage. 

Cassandra Conklin tallied a game-high four saves against the nationally-ranked Owls. Bryn Mawr attempted nine shots with an 8-5 advantage in corner attempts.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both defenses held each other scoreless in an opening quarter that featured limited offense. Erin Coyle had the team's lone shot attempt, which was saved by the goalie. Bryn Mawr also attempted one shot in the stanza, which sailed wide of the cage.

- The Owls attempted two shots early in the second quarter, but neither team registered a shot after the opening three minutes of the stanza. The Owls had two corner attempts in the final minutes of the half, but were unable to generate any offense.

- Bryn Mawr took advantage of a corner attempt in the 36th minute for the game's lone goal. Both teams turned up the offense in the quarter with six combined shots. The Garnet threatened off a corner attempt in the 40th minute with a Magdelana Jordan shot on goal, but were unable to strike for the equalizer. Conklin kept the Garnet within striking distance with three saves in the final two minutes of the quarter. 

- Conklin made another save early in the fourth quarter. The Garnet then caught a break after an Owls strike deflected off the post. Swarthmore struggled to generate an attack in the fourth quarter as they finished with zero shots in the final 15-minutes of play.
