Field Hockey Takes Down Dickinson, 3-1

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College field hockey team picked up a crucial conference victory with a 3-1 win against Dickinson College on Saturday afternoon. 

Katherine Kohn led the charge for the Garnet with a pair of goals. The senior scored the game's opening score in the second quarter, before notching the game-winning tally in the third. Sarah Cooper also added an insurance goal in the third quarter with a penalty stroke. 

Cassandra Conklin was excellent between the pipes with a season-high eight saves. The Garnet outshot the Red Devils 15-11, while both teams attempted seven corner attempts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both defenses held each other scoreless in the opening quarter. The Garnet secured a slight edge with a 5-3 shot advantage, but drew even with three corners. Conklin made a pair of saves in the stanza to keep Dickinson off the board. 

- Kohn opened the scoring in the 26th minute to put Swarthmore in front. Erin Coyle found the senior wide open at the other side of the cage. Kohn then buried the shot for her team-leading fifth goal of the season. The Garnet outshot their opponent 6-0 in the second quarter.

- Dickinson evened up the score with a goal in the 36th minute. The Red Devils came out of intermission with the first four shot attempts of the third quarter, and forced Conklin to make a pair of saves. The Garnet quickly regained the lead with another Kohn tally in the 37th minute. Hannah Ulrich assisted the score for her 10th point of the season, while Kohn increased her team-leading goal total to six. 

- Swarthmore held off the Red Devils with a scoreless fourth quarter. Conkin made a pair of saves early in the stanza before making her last save in the 56th minute. The Garnet leaned on their strong defensive play to overcome a 4-2 shot disadvantage in the final quarter.
