CARLISLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's soccer team traveled to Centennial Conference opponent Dickinson College on Saturday afternoon and the contest ended in a 0-0 draw.
The Garnet had an 11-7 advantage in shots but placed just four attempts on goal. Meanwhile, the Red Devils put just three of their opportunities on frame. Swarthmore had a decisive 6-1 edge in corner kicks but were unable to get on the scoreboard.
Sydney Ross led the Garnet attack with four shots, including three on goal.
Lila Travers stopped all three shots she faced to earn her first clean sheet of the season and fifth of her career.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore spent the first 10 minutes of the game mostly in the Dickinson end, racking up six corner kicks in that span. However, both of the Garnet's shots during the sequence were blocked.
- The first two shots from the Red Devils came between the 15
th and 20
th minutes. The first attempt missed the net high and the second was stopped by Travers. Swarthmore tallied four more shots in the half but the lone chance on target was saved by the goalkeeper. Travers recorded another save in the 29
th minute and the teams were scoreless at halftime.
- Travers stopped the first Dickinson chance of the second half in the 55
th minute. Ross had the initial Garnet shot on goal in the 76
th minute but it was right at the goalie. Ross registered another shot in the 81
st minute but it was again stopped by the keeper. The final Swarthmore opportunity came from Ross in the 87
th minute but the save was made once more. Travers was not challenged again by the Red Devils offense after the 55
th minute.
