Women's Basketball Dealt Non-Conference Defeat By TCNJ

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's basketball team finished its non-conference schedule with a 65-58 loss to The College of New Jersey on Wednesday.

Dana Bandurick led the Garnet for the second straight game with 16 points and eight rebounds. Anna Hansson and Alyssa Hayashi also recorded double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. Hansson dominated the boards with a career-best 17 rebounds to finish with a double-double, her second in a row and third of the season.

The Lions led the Garnet early and maintained their lead throughout the contest. TCNJ knocked down 10 three-pointers on the evening while shooting 42.9 percent from the field. The Lions' quality shooting masked their turnover issues as they lost the turnover battle 21-11.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions jumped ahead early with a trio of threes to take a 9-2 advantage. The Garnet battled back as they tied the game at 11-11 with a 9-2 rally, which was capped off by a Hansson layup. However, TCNJ ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to regain a seven-point lead, 18-11.

- Swarthmore climbed back into the game with nine unanswered points in the second quarter. Vanessa Amsinger opened the rally with a layup as she contributed five points during the run. Bandurick then put the Garnet ahead, 22-21, with a fastbreak layup. The Lions regained their lead until Hayashi drilled a corner three to pull Swarthmore ahead by two points. TCNJ responded with nine straight points until T Sallie closed out the half with a much-needed triple for the Garnet, bringing them within four (36-32).

- Bandurick scored Swarthmore's first eight points of the third quarter as the Garnet kept pace with the Lions early in the stanza. TCNJ ended up winning the quarter, 15-10, to expand its lead to nine points. Hansson was responsible for the team's only other bucket of the quarter.

- TCNJ increased its advantage with a 10-4 run to open the fourth quarter. Swarthmore fought back into the game with eight consecutive points, which included a Sallie three-ball, as the team came as close as seven points. However, the Garnet were unable to pull any closer in the remaining minutes of regulation.
