GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's basketball team was dealt an 80-25 road loss by second-place Gettysburg College in a Centennial Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Bullets got out to an early 8-2 lead and did not look back. It was a worst-case game for the Garnet as Gettysburg shot 53.4% from the floor while Swarthmore had an off day, mustering just eight field goals.
Alyssa Hayashi led the Garnet with eight points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore trailed by five (10-5) with 4:17 to go in the opening quarter when the Bullets closed the period with an 11-2 run to take a 21-7 advantage into the second.
- The Garnet began the second stanza with a layup but Gettysburg answered with a 12-1 stretch and went on to take a 38-13 lead at halftime. The Bullets continued to control play in the second half, outscoring Swarthmore 42-12 over the final two quarters.
