Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Fall Slate at ITA Regionals

Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Regionals with several Round of 16 matchups on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SINGLES
- Lola Diaz dropped a highly-competitive matchup versus Johns Hopkins in the Round of 16. Diaz dropped the opening set 6-3, but responded with resiliency as she bounced back with a 6-0 victory in the second set. The sophomore then narrowly dropped an intense third set, 11-9.

- Kathleen Shiffer gave it her all in a back-and-forth battle against Carnegie Mellon. The sophomore fell in the opening set by a 6-3 decision, but turned things around with a 6-3 victory. Shiffer then dropped the deciding set, 10-4.

- Nathalie Williams fell to Christopher Newport in the Round of 16. The junior led early in the opening set, but withdrew due to injury.

DOUBLES
- Diaz/ Oviya Kumaran dropped their second round matchup in the doubles bracket. The pairing fell 8-3 against a tough Christopher Newport duo.

UP NEXT
The Garnet wrap up their fall slate as they prepare to compete in the bulk of their schedule this spring.
