Men's Tennis Bests Scranton in Fall Opener, 8-1

Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's tennis team opened the fall season with an 8-1 victory over Scranton University on Friday night.

Phil Rehwinkel, Jay Jones, Aadhi Raja and Aamish Pal led the way with victories in both singles and doubles action. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore opened the match with a 3-0 sweep in doubles action. Raja/ Graham Hadesman opened with an 8-3 win in first doubles. The Garnet also received a pair of 8-1 victories from Rehwinkel/ Jones and Pal/ Grahame Brown to close out doubles competition. 

- Charley Force opened his senior campaign with a commanding victory in first singles. Force took the opening set 6-2 before coasting to a 6-0 victory to close the match. 

- Pal won his second match of the evening in second singles. The sophomore won both sets comfortably, 6-1, 6-0, to claim his first singles victory of the season.

- After earning a victory in first doubles, Raja captured another win for the Garnet in third singles. The first-year took the first set 6-3 and then closed out the match with a 6-1 win. 

- The team of Rehwinkel and Jones captured singles victories after winning in second doubles. Rehwinkel bested his opponent in fourth singles with a 6-0, 6-1 decision. Jones then closed out a successful evening with a pair of 6-0 sets in sixth singles.
