Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team wrapped up its invitational with matchups against Stevens Institute of Technology and Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday.
Swarthmore went 21-1 on the afternoon as they bounced back from a challenging opening match versus Harverford. The Garnet swept all 12 matches versus Franklin & Marshall before wrapping up the invitational with a 9-1 record against Stevens.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet opened their morning with a four-match doubles sweep against the Diplomats. The pairings of Nathalie Williams/ Erica Stutz and Jenny Lewis/ Lisa Messier both won their matches 8-0. Oviya Kumaran/ Kathleen Shiffer then battled to an 8-3 victory, while Eda Mjekiqi/ Lola Diaz teamed up for an 8-4 win.
- WIlliams made her 2023-24 singles debut as she bested her opponent, 6-1, 6-2, to win her second match against the Diplomats.
- Shifer and Kumaran followed up their doubles victory with a pair of singles wins. Shifer won her matchup, 6-4, 6-2, while Kumaran coasted to victory, 6-3, 6-1.
- After picking up a singles victory over Haverford on Friday, Riya Rao was victorious again in singles action. The sophomore bested her opponent, 6-2, 6-2.
- Daniela Padron-Castillo won her first match of the season, 6-3, 6-0, to add to the team's singles success. She was joined by
Ruthie Njagi, who also won her first singles match of the season by a 6-1, 6-0 result.
- Alice Coxe and Katherine Zawada captured their first collegiate singles victories. Coxe battled to a 6-4, 6-2 decision, while Zawada impressed in a 6-0, 6-3 effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Williams/ Shiffer teamed up for an 8-5 victory to open their afternoon session versus the Ducks. The pairings of Lewis/ Njagi and Kumaran/ Rao also rallied for a couple 8-5 victories, while Padron-Castillo/ Messier finished off the doubles sweep with a 8-2 decision.
- Diaz added a singles victory with a 6-3, 6-4 decision over her opponent. Lewis then won her third match of the day with a commanding victory, 6-0, 6-1. She was also victorious in singles play versus Haverford on Friday.
- Stutz kept momentum rolling for the Garnet with a 6-2, 6-3 victory, while Padron-Castillo and Coxe built on their success with their second singles victories of the day. Padron-Castillo won, 6-1, 6-1, before Coxe closed out the day with a 6-4, 6-0 decision.
