SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's volleyball team picked up its third consecutive win with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Rowan University on Thursday night.
The Garnet hit .213 as a team and held the Profs to just a .095 attack percentage. Swarthmore also equaled its season high with 15 service aces.
Kaylee Zhang led Swarthmore with 11 kills and swung an impressive .476 during the match.
Trisha Razdan and
Alexia Enache each recorded seven kills while
Dani Pena filled up the stat sheet with four kills, 28 assists, four service aces, three blocks, and five digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet got out to a 3-0 lead in the opening set but Rowan answered with five points in a row to go in front. The Profs were ahead 16-14 before Swarthmore rallied with an 11-4 run to take the set, 25-20.
- Rowan opened up a 7-3 advantage in the second set. The Garnet trailed 8-4 before taking over with a massive 17-3 stretch to lead 21-11. Zhang registered three kills and Swarthmore tallied five service aces to highlight the surge. The Garnet posted a dominant .318 attack percentage during the frame and went up 2-0 with a 25-14 victory.
- The Profs tried to gain some momentum in the third, scoring the first two points. However, Swarthmore fought back again, this time with an 8-1 run to go ahead.
Ellie Streeper and Zhang each had two service aces to spark the rally. It was a four-point difference before the Garnet pulled away with six straight points. Rowan threatened to get back in it with five unanswered points but Swarthmore closed out the match with a 25-19 decision.
