No. 23 Women’s Tennis Rolls Past Bryn Mawr, 9-0

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 23 Swarthmore College women's tennis team blew past Bryn Mawr College, 9-0, to capture their third-straight conference victory. The Garnet currently control the second seed in the Centennial Conference with a 7-1 record and one match left to play. 

The Garnet dominated play with a quick doubles sweep as they only dropped two combined games in doubles action. Swarthmore then carried momentum into singles action with a 6-0 sweep to finish off the Owls.

Ruthie Njagi and Anna Miller were both two-time winners on the day with victories in doubles and singles action. The pair combined for a 8-1 victory in third doubles, before winning their respective singles matches. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES

- Crystal Xu and Kathleen Shiffer did not concede a game in No. 1 singles as the pairing coasted to a 8-0 victory to claim the team's first win. The duo improved to 2-0 on the season in their second appearance as a doubles pairing. 

- Spencer Watts and Oviya Kumaran won in No. 2 doubles by a 8-1 margin. The pairing is a perfect 5-0 this season in conference matches and improved to 9-2 overall. Njagi and Miller then closed out the doubles sweep with another 8-1 victory. 



SINGLES
- Nathalie Williams remained perfect in Centennial play with her fifth-straight conference victory in No. 1 singles. The sophomore made quick work of her opponent with a 6-1, 6-0 win. 

- Lola Diaz dominated play with another quick victory in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Oviya Kumaran then secured a victory in No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 effort. Diaz improved to 4-1 overall in conference singles, while Kumaran is 4-0.

- Miller captured another quick victory in No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 decision. Njagi then battled to a tightly-contested 7[9]-6[5], 6-1 victory in the No. 5 position. Riya Rao was also victorious in No. 6 singles as her opponent withdrew from the match.

The Garnet (13-2, 7-1) wrap up the regular season on Saturday versus Franklin & Marshall.
