Women’s Lacrosse Stays Unbeaten to End Spring Break Slate

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten with a dominant showing versus Wittenberg University, 14-1, on Wednesday morning.

Emma Holub set a new career-best with six goals and seven points. The senior has been a problem all season for opposing defenses with three or more goals in four of the team's five games. She currently leads the Garnet with 19 goals and 23 points, which ranks at the top of the Centennial Conference in both categories.  

Elizabeth Zack recorded another multi-goal performance with her third-straight game with a hat trick or better. Zack also had a well-rounded effort with a team-high seven draw controls and five ground balls. The sophomore has excelled with her expanded role in the attack with 14 goals on the season, which surpasses her rookie total of nine goals.

Katee Kemether shut down Wittenberg in their limited opportunities as the Garnet defense held their opponent in check. Kemether made four saves in a winning effort as she played the entire 60-minutes. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore jumped out to a three-goal advantage as they held Wittenberg scoreless for the opening stanza. Holub opened the scoring, while Isabela Bloomquist and Sophie Finkelstein added on scores in the quarter. Holub also tallied an assist on Finkelstein's goal, 3-0.

- Holub scored the opening two goals of the second quarter to complete the hat trick. Zack then strung together three-straight goals, while Holub added two more before the end of the opening half, 10-0.

- Swarthmore carried their momentum into the second half after shutting out Wittenberg in the opening 30-minutes. Lillian Lewis and Andie Kapiloff found the back of the net in the third quarter. Wittenberg then lit up the scoreboard for the first time to end a streak of 12-unanswered goals for the Garnet, 12-1.

- The Garnet shutout Wittenberg in three of the four quarters as they held their opponents scoreless in the final stanza. Holub capped off a career-best performance with her sixth goal of the contest off an assist from Kela Watts. Madeline Daulerio then added a score with an assist from Kapiloff, who leads the team with six assists and has recorded an assist in all but one game this season.
