Women’s Lacrosse Remains Perfect, Richardson Collects First Career Hat Trick

READING, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team remained undefeated on the season with a road victory over Albright College, 14-9, on Saturday.

Francesca Richardson led the way with three goals and one assist to collect her first career hat trick. Isabela Bloomquist, Emma Holub, Elizabeth Zack and Annabel Stifler also pieced together multi-goal efforts with two goals.

Helen Stafford earned the win in a full 60-minutes of action. The junior made 11 saves and collected two ground balls.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Albright opened the scoring early in the first quarter as they found the back of the net with 12:27 remaining. The Garnet would respond two minutes later with a Sophie Finkelstein score to tie the game. In a quarter dominated by defense, Swarthmore would exit the stanza with a one-goal advantage after Zack added a go-ahead score, 2-1.

- Both teams combined for eight goals in a drastically different second quarter. Zack picked up where she left off with a woman-up goal to open the second frame. The sophomore didn't wait long as she scored just over a minute into the quarter. The Lions would answer back with two-straight goals to tie the game, before the Garnet got both goals back with a pair of scores from Holub and Bloomquist. Albright quickly responded with back-to-back goals to force another tie, before Swarthmore took the lead once more before intermission with a Richardson goal, 6-5.

- Richardson scored two goals between a Stifler score to open the third quarter and complete an early hat trick. Cassidy Marquis and Stifler then added consecutive scores, before Albright ended the Garnet's 5-0 run with their first goal of the half. Richardson collected another tally in the frame to pull ahead by five goals. The Lions ended the quarter with one goal to make it 11-7.

- Albright threatened with their second and third straight goals to pull within two scores early in the fourth. Bloomquist then turned around momentum with a much-needed score. Holub and Lillian Lewis then added breathing room with a pair of unanswered scores, 14-9.
