Women's Tennis Earns Another Conference Sweep at Dickinson

CARLISLE, Pa. - The No. 32 Swarthmore College women's tennis team remained perfect in conference play as they cruised past Dickinson College, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon. The Garnet improved to 3-0 in the Centennial Conference.

Swarthmore set the tone early with a dominant showing in doubles play as they made quick work of the Red Devils. The Garnet then carried their momentum into singles action as they swept through their competition. Nathalie Williams, Oviya Kumaran, Lisa Messier and Jenny Lewis each picked up victories in both singles and doubles play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Williams and Crystal Xu earned their second-straight conference victory in No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 decision. The Garnet then completed the doubles sweep with 8-0 victories in No. 2 and No. 3 action. Kumaran and Spencer Watts won their second-straight conference matchup, while Lewis and Messier were victorious in their first appearance as a doubles pairing.



SINGLES
- Williams continued to flourish in No. 1 singles as she improved to 7-1 on the season. The sophomore took care of business with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over the Red Devils. Lewis also earned her second victory of the afternoon with a 7[7]-6[3], 6-0 decision in No. 2 singles. 

- Kumaran coasted to victory in No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 decision as the junior earned her second conference singles win of the season. Messier also earned another Centennial singles victory with a 6-1, 6-0 win.

- Lola Diaz was victorious in No. 5 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 decision. Swarthmore then completed the sweep as Riya Rao won 6-3, 6-1 in No. 6 singles. 

UP NEXT
The Garnet look to carry their conference success into Tuesday's matchup at Washington College.
