Women’s Swimming Earns Two More All-American Selections on Day Two

GREENSBORO, NC - The Swarthmore College women's swimming team earned a pair of All-America honorable mentions on night two of the NCAA Championships on Thursday night. The Garnet increased their national championship total to two All-American relays and two All-American individuals. 

Quinn Weygandt earned her first All-American selection with a 13th place finish in the 400 IM. The Garnet then wrapped up the evening with Erin Szuromi, Sophie Rotival, Ashley Wong and Elle Anthony earning honorable mention status in the 400 medley relay with a 10th place effort. 

Weygandt opened her day with a school and conference record in the 400 IM prelims to earn a spot in the night session. The first-year placed 13th overall in the prelims with a personal best of 4:26.73. She then claimed honorable mention status in the finals with another 13th place effort as she touched the wall at 4:27.26. Weygandt entered the championships as the 19th seed - improving on her seeding by six spots. 
 


The women's 400 medley punched their ticket to the finals with a 13th place effort in the morning prelims. The team of Szuromi, Rotival, Wong and Anthony recorded the second fastest time in program history with a 3:48.20 prelim mark. The relay then improved on their time in the night session with a school and conference record of 3:47.00. The Garnet finished second in the consolation relay to grab 10th overall. 

The 200 freestyle relay of Anthony, Szuromi, Lee and Tambling tied for 20th overall with a 1:35.70 mark. The Garnet tied with Springfield College as they fell just short of qualifying for the evening swim.

Kate Hallmark returned to the pool for day two after earning All-American status on the opening night. The first-year placed 43rd overall in the 100 butterfly with a 57.46 mark.
