Holub Scores Career-High in Dominant Season Opener Over Eastern

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team opened the season with a dominating victory over Eastern University, 15-1, on Saturday afternoon. 

Emma Holub led the Garnet with a career-high five goals on the afternoon. Isabela Bloomquist, Lillian Lewis, Elizabeth Zack and Annabel Stifler contributed two goals each, while Sophie Finkelstein and Carly Rodrigues-Reilly added one goal.

Francesca Richardson and Andie Kapiloff played a crucial role in getting their teammates involved. The pair combined for five assists and made some magnificent passes to set up Swarthmore goals. 

Helen Stafford held the Eagles scoreless for the opening half, before turning the game over to Katee Kemether, who made a pair of saves for the Garnet. 



HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lewis opened the scoring in the opening minute with her first career goal scored. The Garnet then added another score moments later with a goal from Bloomquist. Swarthmore maintained pressure with three more goals in the quarter. Zack tallied the team's fourth goal with an assist from Richardson with 5:36 left. Bloomquist then added another tally off a free position, while Holub closed the stanza with her first goal, 6-0.

- The Garnet maintained their dominance with five goals in the second quarter. Lewis opened the scoring for the second-straight quarter with a goal in the opening minute. Holub then added consecutive scores with assists from Richardson and Kapiloff, to complete the early hat trick with 11:09 remaining. The Garnet found the net once more with a tally from Zack with 4:00 remaining in the half. The squad then added their final goal of the half with Stifler's first career score on an assist from Kapiloff.

- Swarthmore recorded their first save in the opening minutes of the third quarter as Kemether stuffed a shot attempt from the side of the net. Finkelstein opened the scoring with an assisted goal from Richardson at the 10:58 mark. Holub then found the net once more with her fifth goal of the game with 3:22 left. The Garnet maintained possession for the majority of the stanza as they built their lead to 13-0 after three quarters. 

- Rodriguez-Reilly netted her first career goal with an assist from fellow first-year Aubree Daugherty with 13:25 left. The Eagles then added their first goal shortly after to end a string of 14-unanswered Swarthmore goals. Later in the fourth quarter, Stifler added her second goal of the game off a free position to close out the scoring.
