Women’s Basketball Sweeps Season Series Versus Bryn Mawr in Senior Day Victory


SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's basketball team picked up their second-straight win with a season-high scoring performance over Bryn Mawr College, 87-32, on Saturday afternoon.


The Garnet led the entire contest as they swept their season series against Bryn Mawr in dominant fashion. Seniors Kim Kockenmeister and Colleen Anderson both filled the stat sheet on Senior Day. Kockenmeister paced the team in scoring with 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals, while Anderson added 13 points with two rebounds and three three-pointers made.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet got off to a fast start as they set the tone early in the opening quarter. Seniors Anderson and Kockenmeister both opened the game with a pair of buckets for the Garnet. Swarthmore went on a 14-0 run during the stanza, which featured nine points from Kockenmeister. Bryn Mawr hung around with the help of a couple three-pointers as they trailed 23-12 after the opening stanza. 

- Following an Owls three-pointer, Anderson hit a corner triple early in the second quarter to provide a quick answer. Anderson's three-pointer sparked a 7-0 run for the Garnet as they went up 32-15. Bryn Mawr then answered with a jumper before Anderson drained a pair of triples to take a 23-point lead, 40-17, at the 4:21 mark. Kockenmeister and Anderson each had 11 points at intermission as the Garnet led 44-20. 

- Swarthmore opened the second half with 18-unanswered points. Alyssa Hayashi had a hot start to the quarter with seven-straight points during the run, which included a three-pointer. The Garnet held the Owls scoreless for the first eight minutes of the quarter as they ended the stanza with a 67-25 advantage. 

- The Garnet coasted to victory in the fourth quarter. After five-straight Bryn Mawr points, the Garnet rallied for 20-straight points in the quarter.
