Women’s Basketball Suffers Road Loss to Talented Emory Squad

ATLANTA - The Swarthmore College women's basketball team dropped the opening matchup of the Emory Tip-Off Tournament to the host Eagles, 84-49, on Saturday afternoon.

Emory then began to distance themselves with a three-point play from the foul line, followed by another deep ball, 9-3. Emory eventually expanded its lead to double figures as they went on to close the stanza on a 9-0 run, 24-7.

- After surrendering 11-unanswered points, Wingfield gave her team a boost with a layup to end the team's scoring drought. Wingfield added another bucket moments later, while T Sallie connected from three-point range to piece together five-straight points. Late in the second quarter, the Garnet would pull within 18 points after three-straight buckets. Hayashi provided the first two baskets, while Anna Hansson connected on the third. The Eagles closed the half with a 45-23 lead.
