Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Shocked By NJCU Rally

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – New Jersey City University scored twice in the final six minutes to stun the Swarthmore College men's soccer team and steal a 3-2 victory at Clothier Field Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Garnet came from behind to take a 2-1 lead in the second half but could not hold it down the stretch. Swarthmore benefitted from an own goal and also received a tally by Matthew Loreg. The Garnet finished with a 20-5 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore registered the first five shots of the contest but it was the Gothic Knights who opened the scoring on their first attempt of the night. NJCU executed a tic-tac-toe play that concluded with a header at the left post for a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute.

- In the second half, the Garnet evened the score in the 51st minute thanks to a Gothic Knights own goal. Less than a minute later, Swarthmore went in front as Loreg headed in Leo Hecht's corner kick to make it 2-1.

- NJCU continued to battle and drew a foul inside the box with 5:44 remaining. The Gothic Knights made the penalty kick to tie the game but they were not finished. Moments later, NJCU was awarded a free kick just outside the box. The kick bounced around in front of the goal and Lucca Cordone got his head on it and sent it into the back of the cage for the winning tally with 2:46 to go.
