No. 9 Men’s Basketball Captures 14th-Straight Victory, DeAngelo Scores 1000th Career Point

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The No. 9 Swarthmore College men's basketball team continued their remarkable run with a victory over Muhlenberg College, 88-65, to capture their 14th-straight win on Thursday night.

Vinny DeAngelo became the 27th player in program history to join the 1,000 Point Club with 10 points to bring his career total to 1,001 points.

Three other Garnet scorers joined DeAngelo in double figures in a well-rounded game for the team's offense. George Visconti led the way with 20 points, while Colin Shaw finished with 12 points. George Corzine also grabbed his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds in his second-straight double-digit scoring performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet opened the game with buckets from Cal Hanson, Michael Caprise and Visconti to start a 6-0 run. The Muhls shortly answered to pull within one point until DeAngelo drilled a three-pointer to take a four-point advantage with 12:08 left.

- Corzine added consecutive buckets to expand Swarthmore's lead to eight points. The big man led the Garnet in first-half scoring with eight points. Aidan Godfrey then added a triple off the bench to take a 22-13 lead with 8:11 remaining.

- Matt Mulvey provided a layup to take the team's first double-digit lead with 6:18 left. Shaw then ended the opening stanza with consecutive free throws to take a 12-point lead into intermission, 38-26.

- Shaw connected from deep early in the second half to pull ahead by 15 points. The Garnet remained in firm control of their lead as consecutive buckets from Shaw and Hanson would eventually expand their lead to 19 points. DeAngelo then scored his 1,000th career point on a layup at the 11:22 mark.

- Eddie Paquette added his second three-pointer of the half at the 10:34 mark. The freshman shot a perfect 2-for-2 from deep as Swarthmore's youth continues to provide valuable minutes late in games.
