BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Earning its third win of the season, the Swarthmore Women's Soccer team took down Bridgewater College 3-0 on Monday, Sept. 5th.
With two goals from senior
Kim Kockenmeister and one from senior
Amelia Mounts, the Garnet dominated the Seagulls, earning their first shutout of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite putting up nine shots in the first half, the Garnet was unable to capitalize until the 40th minute, when a Kockenmeister shot finally found paydirt and put Swarthmore up 1-0 just before the horn.
- Not letting the momentum of their first goal dissipate, less than two minutes into the second half Mounts found the back of the net once again for the Garnet, taking advantage of an assist from junior
Dani Kaufman-Sedano to put Swarthmore up 2-0.
- Putting the finishing touches on a game already firmly in Garnet control, Kockenmeister scored again in the 83rd minute, extending Swarthmore's lead to 3-0. Her second goal of the game, this was also her second unassisted effort of the contest.
- The Garnet's stifling defense kept Bridgewater thoroughly in check, allowing just five shots in each half, ten total on the game.
