Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Suffers First Loss versus #10 Cortland State

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's soccer team dropped its first game of the season with a 4-0 loss against #10 Cortland State on Monday afternoon. The Garnet closed out opening weekend with a 2-1 record as they prepare to resume action on Saturday.

Max Kral made a career-high 10 saves as he faced 26 shots from the Red Dragons, while Dean Chong and Bless Tumushabe each recorded two shots to lead the offensive attack.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kral stopped a pair of headers early in the contest as the senior keeper fought off the Red Dragons attack. Sean Nolan also made a great defensive stop with a clean tackle inside the box to deny Cortland of a pathway to the net.

- In the 20th minute, the Garnet made an excellent run at the net, but were unable to connect. Chong made a beautiful slide tackle at center field and then played a perfect ball up the sideline. Brandon Cramblit then played a centering pass to Tumushabe, but Cortland's defense was able to adjust and wrestle away the quality opportunity. The Red Dragons would respond with goals in the 30th and 34th minutes to take a 2-0 advantage into the half.

- Cortland responded with an early second half goal in the 54th minute, before adding a second tally in the 87th minute. Krol battled in the half with six saves and made several challenging stops.
