SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Earning their first shutout of 2022, the Swarthmore Men's Soccer Team took down Rutgers-Camden 3-0 on Sunday, Sept. 4th.
Led by a three-headed offensive attack, the Garnet saw first half goals from junior
Brandon Cramblit, first-year
Toshiro Kenney, and junior
Matthew Loreg. Swarthmore improves to 2-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A flurry of Garnet goals in the latter part of the first half saw Swarthmore jump out to an early 3-0 lead and never look back.
- With just under 18 minutes left in the half, taking advantage of a beautiful cross into the box by junior
Freddie Lin, Cramblit plucked the ball out of the air and slammed it just underneath the crossbar for the Garnet's first goal of the game.
- Building on the momentum of their first goal, just nine minutes later Kenney snuck the ball past the keeper into the left side of the net, capitalizing fully on a perfectly placed free kick by senior
Sean Nolan and a header assist from first-year Arien Marcelli.
- Looking to put the game out of reach before the first half horn, an arcing corner from first-year
Koome Murungi found the head of Loreg for the Garnet's third goal of the half.
- Closing out the 3-0 win for the Garnet, Swarthmore's smothering defense extinguished any hopes of a Rutgers comeback, holding the Raptors to just five shots in the second half, none of which found paydirt.
