SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Improving to 2-0 on the season, the Swarthmore Field Hockey Team took down Susquehanna by a score of 1-0 on Sunday, Sept. 4th.
Â
Coming out on top in a defensive struggle, a goal halfway through third period from senior
Martina Kampel was all that Swarthmore needed to secure the win. The Garnet defense took care of the rest, holding Susquehanna to just three shots and one shot on goal on the day.

How It Happened
-Â Â Â Â Despite putting up five shots and earning four penalty corners throughout the first two periods, the Garnet was unable to find the back of the cage in the first half.
-Â Â Â Â Eight and a half minutes into the third period, Swarthmore's offensive attack finally hit paydirt. Taking full advantage of a penalty stroke opportunity, Kampel found the back of the net, tallying her second goal of the season and the winning goal on the day for the Garnet.
-Â Â Â Â Swarthmore's smothering defense buried any attempted comeback from the River Hawks, closing out the 1-0 win. Â
