Kockenmeister’s Game-Winner Lifts Women’s Soccer over Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's soccer team scored two goals in the last 10-minutes of regulation to defeat Gettysburg College, 2-1, on Saturday night. 

Amelia Mounts tied the game in the 83rd minute with an assist from Keren Maze. The Garnet then capitalized on another scouring chance with the game-winning strike from Kim Kockenmeister in the 89th minute.

Lillian Keller made three saves in 90-minutes of action for the Garnet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gettysburg opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 10th minute. The Bullets fired off the first three shots of the game, before the Garnet closed out the opening half with an offensive surge. Swarthmore took four shots to close out the half as they outshot their opponent 4-3 in the opening 45-minutes. 

- Keller made three saves early in the second half to stay within striking distance. The Garnet then tied things up in the 83rd minute with Mounts' fourth goal of the season. Maze played the ball to Mounts, who then dribbled towards the top of the box and fired a strike to the top left corner of the goal.

- Kockenmeister completed the comeback with a goal in the 89th minute. Hope Neale came away with a steal at midfield then played a lead pass to Kockenmeister, who sprinted towards the center of the box. The senior outraced her defender and then lifted a shot over the sliding goalkeeper for the game-winning tally.
