CHESTER, Pa. - In a thrilling comeback victory, the Swarthmore Men's Soccer team secured their first win of the season, beating Widener 2-1 on Thursday, Sept. 1st.
Despite allowing an early goal less than a minute into the game, two late game goals from first year
Toshiro Kenney and junior
Brandon Cramblit pushed the Garnet over the top.
How It Happened
- While the Garnet were unable to find the back of the net through the first 70 minutes, Swarthmore's offense exploded come minute 72.
- Capitalizing on fresh legs, the Garnet raced down the field. Recent substitution Ardian Marcelli passed the ball to a streaking Kenney inside the box who buried his well-aimed shot for Swarthmore's first goal of the season, tying the game at 1-1.
- Not letting the momentum of their goal go to waste, the Garnet took their first lead of the game with Cramblit's goal in the 77th minute, making the score 2-1.
- While Widener attempted to equalize, Swarthmore's stout defense led by seniors Sean Nolan and Max Kral stood firm, securing the 2-1 win.
