HOW IT HAPPENED
-Â Â Â Â Starting off the match close, set number one began with a series of back and forth rallies, with each squad going on back to back 3-0 runs to tie the game at 4-all. While Swarthmore saw continued offensive success, at one point going on a 4-0 run to take a 9-7 lead, Rutgers was always able to answer with points of their own. It was not until the scoreboard read 15-13 in favor of the Garnet that Swarthmore was truly able to pull away, embarking on a 4-0 run to put themselves up 19-13. While Rutgers tried their best to pull it back, the deficit was too much to overcome, securing a 25-20 set win for the Garnet.
-Â Â Â Â While the second set saw much of the same back and forth point scoring to start off, Swarthmore quickly pulled away, going on a 6-0 run to take a 13-7 lead. While Rutgers pulled the contest back to 16-13, two Garnet 4-0 runs helped along by kills from Zhang saw Swarthmore run away with the set, winning 25-16.
-    Looking to close out the final set and the match, Swarthmore immediately went on a 6-0 run to start the set, followed by a 3-0 stretch to go up 9-1 over Rutgers. While the Scarlet Raptors were able to shrink Swat's lead slightly, a kill from junior
Jordan Perry ignited an 11-3 run to put the set and the match thoroughly out of reach. The Garnet would go on to win the set 25-16, securing their 3-0 win.Â
