Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Â Â Â Â While neither team was able to meaningfully pull away throughout a first set defined by back and forth point trades, Swarthmore seized the lead early and never relinquished it. Going up 7-6 on a kill from Zhang, Swarthmore held on to a slim advantage throughout the contest before finally slipping away late and taking the set 25-22.
-Â Â Â Â In set number two, both teams saw extended offensive success, with the Cougars and the Garnet each going on 4-0 runs. Tied at 19 all, despite a 3-0 Clark run that put the Cougars up 22-19, a 5-0 Swarthmore run gave the Garnet back the lead at 24-22, with Swat ultimately closing out the set 25-23.
-Â Â Â Â Looking to finish off the game early and set a good tone for the rest of the invitational, the Garnet dominated set number three. Leading by as many as twelve points, Swarthmore stifled the Cougar offense, taking the set 25-13 and the match 3-0Â
