BALTIMORE, Md. - No. 27 Swarthmore College Women's Tennis fell in a hard fought match to No. 26 Johns Hopkins University in the Centennial Conference Championship Match on Saturday. The second-seeded Garnet, fell to the top-seeded Blue Jays, 5-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In doubles action,
Oviya Kumaran and
Spencer Watts earned an 8-5 victory at the number three position as Swarthmore went into singles play trailing, 2-1.
Daniela Padron-Castillo and
Sonia Varma fell 8-2 at the number two doubles position, while
Nathalie Williams and
Crystal Xu in a back-and-forth match, 8-7. The duo dropped the tiebreaker point, 9-7.

Jenny Lewis, ranked No. 23 regionally, recorded a big point at the number one singles position as the sophomore earned a 6-3, 6-1.
Sophie Brown fell at the number five singles position, 6-2, 6-2,while
Erica Stutz lost at the number three singles position, 6-0, 6-3. At the number two singles positions, Varma fell 6-3, 6-3.
- Padron-Castillo and Kumaran were playing in the third set, but were unfinished as the Blue Jays clinched the match.
UP NEXT
The Garnet (14-3) will await their faith as the the NCAA makes its selection for NCAA Team Tournament on Monday, and the individuals will be announced on Wednesday.
