SWARTHMORE, Pa. - No. 27 Swarthmore College Women's Tennis knocked off Haverford College in the Centennial Conference semifinals, 5-3, at the Michael Mullan Tennis Center on Saturday night. 

The Garnet, ranked eighth in the region, are the second seed in the Centennial, while the Fords are ranked ninth and the third seed in the Conference Tournament. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Garnet took all three points in doubles action as Sonia Varma and Daniela Padron-Castillo finished first with an 8-3 win at the number two position. Nathalie Williams and Crystal Xu, the third ranked doubles in the ITA Atlantic South Region, tallied an 8-3 victory at the number one doubles position. Spencer Watts and Oviya Kumaran earned the sweep in doubles play for the Garnet as they rallied to an 8-7 win at the number three position. 

- Singles play saw Kumaran battle to a three set victory over Ellie Esterowitz. The sophomore won the first set 6-1, dropped the second set 6-2 and earned a hard fought 6-1 third set win.

- Varma, ranked 23rd regionally, fell in a hard fought match at the number three singles position to No. 21 regionally ranked Mimi Lavin, 7-6, 6-0.

- At number five singles, Xu clinched the match for Swarthmore. Xu battled to a 7-5 first set victory, and 6-2 in the second set. At the number six singles position, Watts didn't finish because of the clinch by Xu.
