SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Eight different players score as Swarthmore College Men's Lacrosse topples No. 11 Gettysburg College on Saturday at Clothier Field Stadium. Swarthmore's win over the Bullets is only their second win over a nationally ranked opponent.
The win over the Bullets is the first win over a nationally-ranked opponent since they beat Gettysburg 10-8, back on April 8, 2017 when they were ranked No. 15. Today's victory against No. 11 Gettysburg is the highest ranked win for the Garnet.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Cooper Bucklan opened the scoring in the first quarter just over a minute gone in the opening frame. The Garnet and Bullets would exchange goals, leading to a 3-3 tie at the end of the opening frame.

Von Mabbs added goals for the Garnet.
- After winning the face-off to open the second quarter,
Joel Paulson streaked to down the middle of the field to score just seven seconds into the quarter. The Bullets would add two goals, before
Michael Hardiman would tie the game at five with a little under six minutes remaining in the half. Gettysburg scored with 14-seconds left in the half to take a 6-5 advantage into the half-time break.
- Coming out of the half-time break, Mabbs tied the game at six as he recorded his 27th goal of the season. The sophomore attacker scored with a little over 30-seconds gone in the third quarter. Swarthmore went on to score five straight goals to close the third quarter. Mabbs,
Carter Strauch, and Hardiman each scored, while
Ben Schaeffer tallied a pair during that stretch.
- Gettysburg got within two goals as they scored two straight to open the fourth quarter. Mabbs tallied a pair of beautiful goals as the Garnet took a four goal lead with four-plus minutes left in the game. With under a minute left in the contest, Henry Koyler fired a shot from mid-field to secure the victory.

Shane Nachshen recorded nine saves in the net as he earned the victory.
Jack Ballou tallied two crucial saves in three minutes of action as he came in to relieve Nachshen, when the freshman received a penalty.
