SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College softball team split its conference doubleheader against Washington College on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet dropped the opener 2-1, before bouncing back with a 6-1 victory in the finale.
Alexandra Simon led the offense with four hits and three RBI - including a solo homer in the opening contest.
Gwen Glatz also had a nice afternoon at the dish with five hits and an RBI. Glatz went a perfect 4-for-4 in the finale.
Glatz tossed seven strong innings in the opener while allowing no earned runs.
Meg Ozawa picked up her conference-leading ninth win in the finale while striking out five batters over seven innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Shorewomen picked up two unearned runs with an RBI double in the fourth inning to take the lead. Glatz then bounched back the following inning with a clean fifth frame, 2-0.Â
- With the Garnet down to their final out, Simon launched a solo home run to left field in the seventh inning. Glatz then worked a walk to extend the game, but Bertrand smacked a line drive directly at the center fielder to end the game, 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Washington struck first with an RBI double in the second inning. However, the Garnet answered back with four runs in the third stanza. Simon plated the first run with a single up the middle, while Kate Hart gave Swarthmore the lead with a double to left. Brooke Coneeny then brought home two more runners with a single up the middle, 4-1.
- Simon continued to swing a hot bat with a single up the middle to plate another run in the fourth inning. Glatz then added one more run with a single to shortstop in the sixth, 6-1.
