ST. DAVIDS, PA - Swarthmore College Softball fell to Eastern University, 4-3, in the non-conference finale on Tuesday afternoon.
Led by three hits from
Emily Bertrand and a pair from
Gwen Glatz and
Sam Hastings, the Garnet dropped to 16-4 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore scored in the top of the first on an RBI triple to right field by Glatz to plate
Flannery McFadden.
- In the top of the second inning,
Maya Estrera notched an RBI single up the middle to score Bertrand. The bottom half of the third inning saw the Eagles cut into the Garnet lead as Chloe Rupe knocked in an unearned run. The Garnet would get that run back in the top of the fourth as Hastings singled to right center field. Bertrand, who led off the inning with a double to center field, would come around to score on the base hit by Hastings.
- Bertrand, Glatz, Hastings, Estrera, McFadden, Simon and
Caterina Reed all recorded hits for the Garnet.
- Eastern chipped away at the lead with a run in the bottom of the sixth, and would win the game on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the seventh inning.
