Women's Lacrosse Falls to Ursinus in Inaugural Anita Deasey Memorial Cup Game

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team dropped a back-and-forth battle to Ursinus College, 12-11, in the inaugural Anita Deasey Memorial Cup Game on Wednesday.

Abigail Love led the way with three goals and an assist for a team-high four points. Isabela Bloomquist also recorded a hat trick for the Garnet, while Eleanor Miller added a pair of goals. Emma Holub, Helena Irvine and Elizabeth Zack also tallied one score, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Holub opened the scoring with a quick tally off an assist from Andie Kapiloff at the 14:37 mark. Ursinus answered with a goal a few minutes later, before Miller regained the lead off another assist from Kapiloff. The Bears took their first lead of the contest with consecutive scores, but Irvine tied things up with an assisted goal from Holub. Ursinus then regained the lead with two minutes remaining, before Love knotted the game up with an unassisted score.

- Swarthmore tallied four-unanswered goals while holding the Bears scoreless in the second quarter. Miller opened the scoring with her second goal of the contest, while Bloomquist found the back of the net with an assist from Love. In the final two minutes of the half, Love and Bloomquist each added scores to enter halftime with a four-goal lead, 8-4.

- Ursinus fought back with a 6-2 advantage in the third quarter. The Bears opened the quarter with back-to-back scores before Bloomquist broke up the rally with another score. Ursinus then countered with three more goals to tie the game. Zack then found the back of the net to regain the lead at the 5:10 mark, but Ursinus scored moments later to tie things up, 10-10.

- Love opened the scoring in the fourth with an assisted goal from Irvine at the 12:44 mark. However, the Bears ended the contest with two-unanswered scores as they captured the inaugural Anita Deasey Memorial Cup.
