Women's Lacrosse Clinches Centennial Tournament Berth, Wins Regular Season Finale

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team defeated Bryn Mawr, 9-8, to close out their regular season schedule on Saturday morning. The Garnet have clinched the fifth seed in the Centennial Championship Tournament and will travel to Washington College. The program will make its first appearance in the tournament since 2012. 

Sophie Finkelstein led the way with a career-high three goals for her first collegiate hat trick. Helena Irvine and Kyra Hall also helped pace the offense with two goals. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet opened the game with five-unanswered goals in the first quarter. Irvine opened the scoring at the 11:14 mark, before Ashley Pyon added a score moments later. Irvine then scored once more in the quarter, before Emma Holub and Finkelstein capped off Swarthmore's rally. Bryn Mawr then added a pair of goals to end the opening stanza, 5-2.

- The Owls narrowed the gap with consecutive scores to open the second quarter. Swarthmore then built its lead back to two with another goal from Finkelstein, 6-4.

- Hall netted the first score of the second half with a goal at the 8:59 mark. The Owls then got a goal back before Finkelstein answered with her third goal of the contest. Hall then ended the quarter with another tally to take a four-goal advantage, 9-5.

- The Owls opened the fourth quarter with a quick tally, before narrowing their deficit to two goals at the 8:30 mark. Bryn Mawr made things interesting with a late goal to pull within one, but the Garnet defense held strong to seal the victory.
