CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team fell to Washington College, 15-6, on Wednesday night.
Helena Irvine collected five draw controls to overtake the single-season draw control record, originally held by Tess Wild. The senior has 85 draw controls on the season, which ranks second in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Shorewomen tallied the game's opening goal, before the Garnet answered with a goal from Emma Holub at the 11:23 mark. Washington then countered with four-unanswered goals to end the quarter, 5-1.
- Washington expanded its lead to six goals with back-to-back scores to open the second quarter. The Garnet were held scoreless throughout the stanza as the Shorewomen entered halftime with a 7-1 lead.
- Irvine found the back of the net to open the third quarter at the 12:14 mark. Eleanor Miller then answered with a goal moments later to shrink Swarthmore's deficit to four goals. Abigail Love and Kyra Hall also connected with goals as the Garnet outscored Washington 4-3 in the quarter.
- Washington opened the fourth quarter with five-straight goals. Francesca Richardson put an end to the Shorewomen's streak with her second goal of the season.
